Launched on 1 February 2009, the traffic diversion scheme at Woodlands Centre Road improves traffic flow along Woodlands Centre Road and the Woodlands Checkpoint by diverting traffic during certain restricted hours.

The traffic scheme was implemented following the success of a trial by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Traffic Police (TP) and Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) from September 2008 to January 2009.

How the scheme works

During the restricted hours, motorists who wish to enter the Woodlands Checkpoint from Woodlands Centre Road will not be allowed to turn into Woodlands Crossing. Instead, they should proceed straight into Old Woodlands Road or to Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE); these roads will serve as alternative routes during the stipulated hours. The restricted hours for the various types of vehicles are summarised below:

Motorists are reminded to follow the traffic signs that are displayed at Woodlands Centre Road and along roads leading to the Woodlands Checkpoint.
