Lornie Road is part of the Outer Ring Road System and allows motorists to travel from the east to the west while bypassing the city. It also serves as an essential road connection for traffic between PIE and residential estates in the central and northern parts of the island, such as Ang Mo Kio, Bishan and Thomson.
By 2020, traffic demand is expected to increase by 20% to 30% due to upcoming development in the central and northern parts of Singapore, more than the current capacity of Lornie Road. Construction is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2013 and be completed in 2016. Last Updated: 26 September 2011
